My name is LaToya Skanes, and I have been in education for 12 years.  For the last 3 years, I have served as the counselor of T.L. Faulkner CTC. My goal is to prepare students for global opportunities by equipping them with 21st century workforce skills. As a professional school counselor, I provide services to students, parents/guardians, school staff and the community in the areas of school guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support.

     I obtained my Bachelor of Science from Alabama A&M University, my master’s degree from University West Alabama, and my Ed.S from the University of West Alabama.

     My educational experiences have allowed me the opportunity to co-operate with a diverse unit of people to meet the collective goal of improving student achievement. As a school counselor, I am devoted to coordinating ongoing systemic activities designed to help students establish personal goals and develop plans for their future.  I am committed to developing confidential relationships with students to help them resolve and/or cope with problems and developmental concerns.

      In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, reading books, and shopping.
